The main objective of this research is the analysis of the social relations, the urban growth and the commercial development in the town of Albacete at the end of the Old Regime. In this research we have combined the quantitative data with the social microanalysis. For understanding it we have examined the demographic dynamics, the domestic and the economic organization forms, the control of the market and the mechanisms of social mobility. This analysis method has demanded of the treatment of an ample number and diversity of sources. Parochial books, censuses, registers, relations of wealth and an ample range of notarial documents have been combined with municipal documentation and civil and criminal lawsuits.
